Hall - Lawton

A very pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Paparoa, on February 19, when Georgina Lillian, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Lawton, of Paparoa, was married to Neil Reardon, second son of Mr and Mrs W. R. W. Hall, of Donnelly’s Crossing. Rev. Bull performed the ceremony and Mrs T. Wright officiated at the organ. The bride, given away by her father, entered the church wearing a lovely gown of ivory satin beaute, her tulle veil being held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of dahlias and asters. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Mary Newman, of Donnelly’s Crossing, who wore a pretty frock of green lace over green Satin. Her short green veil was held in place by a wreath of pink and mauve flowers, and she carried a bouquet of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Private F. H. Hall. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Jubilee Hall, where the bride's mother received file guests wearing a frock of navy floral balmoral crepe, with accessories to match. She also carried a posy of mauve verbenas and daisies. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy floral crepe de chine frock, with accessories to tone, and also carried a posy of verbenas and daisies. The tables looked very dainty, being decorated with asters and dahlias. Striking features of the decorations, which were both patriotic and fitting, were the flags hung in honour of the bridegroom, who is shortly going into camp, and the best man, who is already a member of the force. After the wedding cake had been cut by the bride, and the usual toasts had been honoured, the function closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. The bride and bridegroom then left en route for Wellington, the bride travelling in a navy floral ensemble, [with accessories to tone.
