Internment Of Graf Spee Crew
The British Government today requested Argentina to. speed the internment of 500 of the Admiral Graf Spee crew. The ambassador, Sir Esmond Ovey, reminded the Minister of Interior, Dr. D. Taboada, that the presidential decree specified the internment of the men in interior provinces. Dr. Taboada is reported to have replied that the decree was only of an administrative character and to have added that at present he was considerably modifying the decree. The German ambassador, Baron von Thermann, had requested permission for the men to be employed by German firms in Buenos Aires.
