Master Terry Ford left on Tuesday morning for Auckland, where he will attend the Sacred Heart College. Mrs Steele, of Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Mrs D. Saunders. Mangonui Mr and Mrs Kuhtz, of Tirau, are the guests of their son, Mr N. Kuhtz, of Beach Road. Mr and Mrs Stewart have returned from the Xmas vacation. Mr and Mrs Malcolm May and daughter Kim, of Whangarei, were visitors to Mangonui during the week. Master Alex Bright has returned to school after spending the school vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs G. Bright, of the Mangonui Hotel. Mr and Mrs W. A. Wilton are home after visiting Auckland and the Waikato. Mrs D. J. McKay and family have gone home to Auckland after several weeks spent in Mangonui. Mrs P. Feeley has resumed teaching ; duties at the Mangonui School. ■Mr and Mrs T. Feisst. for , some months has returned to Auck- j l land. ’ ■ j Portland On Wednesday lasi the lady members of the Portland Tennis Club were the guests of the president Mrs C. Hanna .at a most enjoyable afternoon on the courts. A progressive tournament, was played, the winners being Mrs A. C. Whitham and Mrs F. M. Cox. Mrs P. Colvin was the winner of the lucky number competition. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Hanna, after which a presentation of a bouquet of flowers and a crystal bowl was made to her by the ladies. Miss Jill McMann, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs A. C. Whitham. Miss Doris Peacock is on a visit to her parents. Mr and Mrs A. Peacock. Kaikohe Mrs Kennerley presided over a good attendance at the February meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild held in the church hall on Thursday. One new member was welcomed to the guild. On Wednesday night at the Masonic Hall, Kaikohe, Mrs Wyatt and Miss Molly D’Ewes were hostesses at a social gift evening held in honour of Miss Lulu Munn, who left on Saturday for Auckland, where she is shortly to be wedded to Mr Robert Showier. Dancing and games occupied most of the time. The music was supplied by Mrs A. Edwards (piano), Mr Len Beaver (saxophone), Mr P. Scott fpianoaccordeon) and L. Middleton (violin). Miss Iris Carmichael performed a tap dance. During the evening Miss D’Ewes assisted the guest of honour to open her many dainty and useful gifts, for which she thanked her friends and also the hostesses for arranging the evening. Speakers were Messrs" J. Wyatt and A. Ennion, both of “Broadway House.’’ where Miss Munn has been employed for several years.

Otaika Mrs Sanderson, of Hamilton, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs Forth, senr. Mr and Mrs W. Kerr, of Hamilton, have been the guests of Miss M. Kerr. Mrs Williams, who was the guest of Miss F. Gunson, has returned to her home in Whangarei. Mrs Keith Pemberton is in Auckland. Mrs Pi. Porter is out of hospital in Auckland, and is progressing nicely. She is to return home during the coming week. Mr and Mrs Forth have moved into their new house, which was recently completed. The Otaika Women’s Missionary Guild held this month’s meeting at the home of Mrs Matthews. Onerahi Mrs F. C. Frogley has returned from a motoring tour to Wellington to visit the Centennial Exhibition. Her sister, Mrs Higgins, of Hamilton, who returned with her, spent a short holiday in Onerahi. Mrs Brown and family, of Kawakawa, who were the guests of Mrs Brown's mother, Mrs N. Munro. for some weeks, has returned home. The Misses M. and L. Horn, who spent several weeks motoring, are home again. They spent some time at New Plymouth and Tauranga. Mrs Pollock, of Dunedin, is the guest of her si'ster-xn-law, Mrs J. Cartwright. Miss Dulcie Williams, of Auckland, spent a short holiday in Onerahi as the guest of her aunt, Mrs C ; M. McLean. Miss Lorna McLean spent her holidays in the Wellington district, and also visited the Centennial Exhibition. Mrs Peter Pullman has returned home after several weeks spent in Wellington. Mrs Fausett, of Pukekohe, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. McLean. Mr Finnemore, who spent his holidays in Napier and Wellington, has now resumed his church duties. Messrs W. Whimp and N. Stuart spent a very enjoyable holiday motoring over the North Island. They visited the Centennial Exhibition.
