Aotearoa’s Record Trip
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND. This Day. The flying-boat Aotearoa returned to Auckland from Sydney on Saturday afternoon, after taking slightly over eight hours, the second fastest crossing by this machine. The strong headwinds which marred its trip to Australia with Lord Willingdon’s party on Thursday assisted the flying-boat on its return trip. The average speed was about 170 miles an hour. The landfall was made 15 miles south of Kaipara Heads. . The only passenger on the flight was Mrs. Stevens, wife of LieutenantColonel W. G. Stevens, of Divisional Headquarters, 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
