Marketing Chief On Margarine v. Butter
Surprise that two Ministers at Home had been saying that margarine could be made as nutritious in food value as butter was expressed by the Minister for Marketing (Mr Nash). “Such statements, I believe, are influenced by war exigencies rather than being a statement of the true facts,” Mr Nash said. “A justifiable case can be made out for butter, with its actual sun content being more nutritious. “However, we have got to face the competition of margarine. “We can’t expect people, on present standards at Home, to continue paying 1/7 per lb for butter when they can gel something nearly as good for from 5d to Bd.”
