Big Increase In Fighter Squadron Strength

LONDON, February. 8. The Minister for Air (Sir Kingsley Wood) was asked in the House of Commons for a statement on the effective front-line fighter strength, in view of the “nearing prospect of a mass air attack, at least, on shipping and the ports.” Sir Kingsley replied: “I can certainly assure the House that a considerable increase has been made in the effective strength of the fighter squadron since the outbreak of the war.” He declined, on the grounds of public interest, to disclose if the Nuffield factory had reached the stage of regular output.
