Australia, Wild West On Plaza Programme
Amusements
The thrilling realism of one of Zane Grey’s most famous novels “The Heritage of the Desert” has been caught and held in the picture of that name which opened at the Plaza Theatre last evening. As in the novel, the film deals with adoption of a young wounded stranger by a family which is fighting lawlessness in a lawless country. Recovered, he gives them aid but his presence causes complications because of a growing romance with a girl and the jealousy of another man. It is a well-produced picture with Donald Woods, Evelyn Venable, Robert Barett and Russell Hayden in the leading roles. Australia’s foremost .actor, Cecil Kellaway, has the leading role in “Mr. Chedworth Steps Out,” an excellent Australian production with a plot which gives the principal player every opportunity of displaying his .ability. Dismissed from employment after long service the down-trodden and hen-pecked Mr. Chedworth wins a big double and at the same time finds a quantity of counterfeit notes. His flutters with genuine and counterfeit money provide first-class entertainment.
