J£ITEROA Gamboge Goldie has completed a first-class production record of 8671bs fat as a mature cow. We offer congratulations and hope to see her amongst the medal winners.

TVTR S. I. Crookes’ fine bull Nance’s Sybil’s Gamboge (Imp.) has qualified as a champion butterfat bull. Gamboge is a great asset to, Kiteroa stud farm, being a splendid type of the Jersey breed.

JjpHE copious rains that have fallen since the beginning of 1940 have been appreciated by all farmers on volcanic lands, and milk yields are holding up well as a consequence. Big cheques and prosperous dairy farmers will bring back the smiles to many Northlanders.

* * * * JERSEY enthusiasts and all farmers are reminded of the Whangarei Jersey Club’s field day to be held on February 5 at Kiteroa stud farm, Maungatapere. Arrangements are in the capable hands of Mr R. Sanderson, who is manager at Kiteroa.

JJJR Jim Morrison is unable to follow his usual occupation on the farm since his operation and is doing agency work until the clouds roll . by. We hope to see him fit and well again in the near future.

TUTR S. G. Morgan, who will give the TJL Jersey demonstration on February 5, created a good impression when he visited Northland as a member of the Classification Committee. Jersey breeders will be pleased to meet him again.

A N interesting demonstration to be ' held in conjunction with the Jersey cattle demonstration on February 5 is one on pigs. Mr Preston, supervisor for the Northland Pig Council, will be in charge of this job, and with his sound knowledge of type and farm management, pig raisers are assured a profitable outing on field day at Kiteroa.

It/rR R. Sanderson, manager at Kiteroa stud, and also a member of the W.J.C. executive, will give an address on field day, the subject being his impressions on American farm management and American Jersey cattle.

■jl/TR Sanderson was employed at Hood Farm, U.S.A., where so many of the world’s greatest producing Jerseys were raised, and well known to him were Sophie 19th (for many years record lifetime producer of the world), the Sophie Agnes, Tormentor, Pogis and Torono families, and during a visit to American shows saw Masterman of Oaklands, Combination’s Premier, Golden Fern’s Noble, The Cid, Noble of Oaklands, Sociable Sybil, etc. Mr Sanderson will explain the American methods of feeding stud and show cattle.
