Pot-Plant Decorations For Town Buildings
Whangarei’s decorations during the holiday period now include pot plants outside the principal buildings, including the Town Hall, Post Office, and the Bank of New Zealand.
The scheme has been organised by members of the Whangai’ei Ladies’ Gardening Club, with the co-operation of the borough gardener. It is a modificatioxx. of the proposals that were to have been put into operation had the Centennial celebrations progressed as usual. Flowering plants in pots are a new type of town brightening, but one that should prove effective.
“We know there is no need to appeal to the people of Whangarei, and visitors to the town, to look after the plants,” a member of the club said today.
“The plants are valuable, and we know adults will prevent children from damaging them.”
