Chestnuts, Ivy Leaves To Beautify Frauleins
A wartime beauty course has been introduced to the German Workers' Front. ' ■ ;
Rain-water, horse chestnuts, and ivy leaves are to replace lipstick, rouge, and powder. In the first course, Frau Charlotte Romer declared that the care of the body must conform to war conditions. “To use milk for the skin is against the law.” “Rainwater is better, softer, and free from chalk,” she wrote. “Horse chestnuts contain peptonine. which lathers like soap. . “Ivy leaves and potato skins boiled up result in a good skin-cleanser. “Water alone cleanses better than soap Which draws oil out of the body.” Frau Romer advises that boiled pineneedles make, an excellent substitute for soap.
United States State Department has extended a moral embargo against the sale of aircraft to countries which bomb civilian and open towns. The embargo' will include plans, plants, manufacturing rights, technical information for the production of aviation and gasoline. The action affects Russia and Japan.
