Appeal For Knitted Gloves For Air Force
As a national effort women of New Zealand are being asked to knit gloves for members of the air force.
A scheme for the knitting of gloves has been introduced by the National Patriotic Funds Board as a national service in temporary replacement of the bulk sock-knitting proposal as an urgent measure.
The quota for the Patriotic Zone A (Northland) is 200 pairs of gloves. Wool for the gloves is to bo supplied by the National Patriotic Funds Board from Wellington and an urgent appeal is being made to women to cooperate.
The scheme has been approved by the standing committee of the Provincial Patriotic Council and all women are being urged to respond to tlie call for their services. Although the wool which is being supplied has not yet arrived, arrangements have been made at the offices of the Whangarei town clerk for distribution. and when it arrives notification will be given.
