To Interest Children In Native Trees
To assist in making young Northlanders conscious of their own glorious bushlands, the North Auckland Forest Society has completed arrangements to place a copy of the New Zealand Forest and Bird Protection Society’s monthly magazine in every school in Northland.
In addition, the society is subscribing to the magazine for all Northland Correspondence School pupils. “Remember what you read and tell others both young and old. Go into the bush and forest and enjoy its beauty. “Observe what you see. “Guard from fire, the bush forest and single trees such as pohutukawas by the seaside. “Draw the attention of others to the necessity for preserving the gifts which nature, for thousands of years, has been building up.” This is the message which the North Auckland Forest Society is sending to children who are receiving the New Zealand Forest and Bird Protection Sccicty.’s magazine. The Northland body is also arranging a show and display in Whangarei about September 20, 1940. There will be competitions for folios of specimens, collections of seeds, and guessing the names of trees. The society urges children to support this show and display.
