Victoria Valley School Diamond Jubilee
A meeting of Victoria Valley residents and ex-pupils of the Victoria Valley School was held on Saturday last to discuss, and if possible finalise, arrangements for the 60th anniversary of the opening of a school in the district.
The chairman (Mr John M. Dawson) referred to conditions overseas, and said it might be advisable to depart from the original programme. It was decided to continue with the function in an amended form.
The proceedings are to commence with a dance on January 26. On January 27, a varied programme will be presented. The morning will be devoted to a parade and roll-call of ex-pupils, and short addresses by ex-teachers and others. Lunch will follow, after which a sports programme on the cricket ground will be staged.
On the Sunday, a church parade will be held. Special committees have been formed to organise the various phases of the function. Mr Viv Kitchen is general secretary.
