The boisterous, squally weather we have experienced has not been encouraging for social doings, and new spring outfits will have to remain in the wardrobes until we get something like spring weather.

Fours of bridge and rnah jongg are becoming more popular than the larger parties, and most people seem to be ousy preparing for the Christmas holidays which are now only about three weeks away.

Cn Saturday evening another party was given for Elwyn Powell, whose marriage takes place in the first, week of next month. This time it was a “gift” evening hostessed .by Mrs I. Carr and Misses Nell and Zoe Ward, and held at the home of Mrs Carr. The drawing room was charmingly decorated with gerberas .and roses and Elwyn looked attractive in a duck egg blue silk cloque gown which was studded with rhinestones round the neck. Those there included Mrs S. H. Ward. Mrs Harold Cotter, Mrs Eric Thomson Mrs Ross Nelson, Mrs W. T. Surman, Mrs A. P. Morgan, Mrs W. E. Crawford, Mrs W. J. Glanville, Mrs N. F. Ste.ad, Mrs R. D.
