North Hokianga Federation (Maori Group)
The Pohutukawa Sub-Group of Maori Women’s Institutes, including the Institutes of Tauteiihiihi, Te Hua Hua, Motuti, Lower Waihou, Mitimiti and Rangi Point, held their first annual meeting and display of work in Motuti on Saturday, November 18. The work displayed was wide in j variety and of very high quality. Be- | fore lunch a selection of work was | made so that it could be taken by | Mrs Fricker, one of the North Hoki- I anga Federation delegates to the Do- j minion Council in Wellington from | November 23 to 25. These articles and | work from other districts will be I shown at the Centennial Exhibition during February. I In the afternoon, the visitors and all S the people of Motuti were addressed I by Dr. Smith, of Rawene, on the sub- S ject of the diet of the Maori, with I special reference to the growing of I vegetables. I
