Tea For Xmas On Waikouaiti
F Special to “Northern Advocate ”l DUNEDIN, This Day.
. Consternation has been caused among the Dunedin business community at the news of the wreck of the Waikouaiti.
Among the cargo was a considerable quantity of tea for local merchants, upon which they were relying for much-needed stocks to carry them over until well on into the New Year. There is also a big quantity of new season’s figs, and, most important of all, a quantity of cream cf tartar. local stocks of which are practically exhausted.
If these and oti.er lines are completely ruined, it will mean a tremendous loss to traders, because in this period, when imports are necessary and goods are hard to procure, there may bo very little prospect of replacing them.
