U-Boat Sinking Claim Untrue

LONDON, November 28,

Nothing is known in informed circles in London of a German radio claim tonight that a U-boat sank a British cruiser of the London qlass (9800 tons) east of the Shetlands.

Germany claims a U-boat commander, Captain Prien (who torpedoed the battleship Royal Oak in Scapa Flow on October 13) torpedoed the cruiser.

No details are given. The Admiralty states that the claim is quite untrue.

Such of the cable news In this Issue as is so headed has appeared in ‘‘The Times” and is sent to this paper by special permission. It should be understood that the opinions are not those of “The Times” unless expressly stated to be so.
