King’s Pigeons Save Life Of Airman
Two of the King’s pigeons on active service brought about the rescue of a British pilot.
A plane carrying the pigeons was brought down in the sea. The airman had no- time to attach a message to the birds, but released them.
They flew home to the King’s lofts at Sandringham, carrying only service identification marks.
Rescuers were sent out and picked the pilot up.
