British Cruiser Enemy Freighter
A British cruiser shelled and sank the German freighter Olinda, bound for Hamburg with cereals and canned meat, says a message from Monte Video. The cruiser ordered the master and crew of the Olinda to take to the boats and then sank the vessel, which is the first enemy vessel
destroyed since the outbreak of hostilities. The crow were taken to Monte Video. The British embassy at Buenos Aires officially confirmed the sinking of the Olinda. The Olinda was a steamer of the Ham Hamburg-South American line. Of 4576 tons gross, she was built at Kiel in 1927.
