Kaitaia Defence Rifle Club
During the week-end the club held the opening shoot of the 1939-40 season, visiting riflemen from the Whangarei, Cmana and Unutoke clubs being present. The Omana and Kaitaia clubs held a teams match at 300, 500, and 600 yards (seven shots ,at each range for the Swann Cup, which Kaitaia recently won from Unutoke, the result being a win for Kaitaia by a margin of 16 points.
Heavy rain caused the abandonment of shooting after the 10-shot match at 500 and 600 yards.
The winner of the A grade cup in this match was W. S. C. Bowman, and the B grade cup winner was I. F. McKinnon, both with the very creditable score of 94 in bad weather conditions.
