Mr. C. H. De Caitcheon

OBITUARY

The death has occurred fo Mr. Charles Haynes de Caitcheon, of Onerahi, who celebrated his seventy-sixth birthday in March last. A native of New Zealand, Mr. de Caitcheon was the third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William de Caitcheon,! who left Manchester, England, and travelled to New Zealand aboard the sailing ship Mary Ann. which arrived in 1858. He was born at Tamaterau. and :was educated at the old Tamaterau school and later at the Parua Bay school. Mr. de Caitcheon. had spent 66 years in the county of Whangarei, and has resided at Onerahi for the past 38 years. He pursued several occupations, chief among them gumdigging. sawmilling, fruit canning and farming. He also spent a few years sawmilling in Auckland.

In 1,009 ho married Jessie Isabella, third daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Carter, of Mata.

Mr. de Caitcheon is survived by his wife.
