Well-Known Railway Guard Retires
[Special to “Northern Advocate”! AUCKLAND, This Day.
A well-known Auckland railway guard. Mr Thomas'Kearin. brought his last train to Auckland yesterday, prior to retiring after 40 years of service. In recent years, Mr Kearin lias been best known to the travelling public because of his service as guard on the Whangarei and Rotorua expresses. Mr Kearin entered the Railway Department’s service in 1899, and was appointed a first-grade guard in 1921.
