Auckland v. N. Auckland Rugby

With an improved weather forecast, there should be a record crowd at Kensington Park to-morrow for the annual Rugby match between North Auckland and Auckland.

Wet or fine, the playing surface, which is volcanic, should be in good order, allowing the fast-moving backs of both sides plenty of scope. The last two games between the unions have been won by Auckland by the closest of margins—6-3 at Dargaville in 1937 and 12-11 at Eden Park last year. The North Aucklanders, with the exception of C. Wintle, reserve threequarter, assembled at Whangarei yesterday. and are billeted at the Settlers’ Hotel. Wintle will arrive to-morrow.

Selector I. Finlayson, manager of the team, is in charge of the coaching, and is paying special attention' to scrum work.

One Alteration in Auckland Team

The Auckland representative forward, R. R. Hull, has notified the selector, Mr F. W. Lucas, that he will not be available for the match tomorrow against North Auckland, at Whangarei. D. N. Whillans will replace Hull, while H. Priest, of Otahuhu, has been selected as an emergency. R. Grant, the emergency back, has also notified the selector that he will not be available for the match. He will not be replaced.

The team will leave Auckland at 8 a.m. to-morrow, and will stay at the Commercial Hotel.

The Curlain-Raiser.

Otamatea is chalelnging Whangarei for the trophy. Kick-off in the big match will be at 2.30 p.m. 1800 Seats Available, There have been no reservations, so that 1200 sideline and 600 grandstand seats will be available to-morrow. Along the sideline and at the ends of the field three banks of seats have been built.

Controlled parking for a large number of cars will be available at the rear of the grandstand and on the area just within the park gates.

Mr E. (“Ted") McKenzie, final All Black selector, has notified his inability to attend, but will be present at a later representative fixture at Whangarei. Selector of the Auckland team, and also one of the North Island selectors, will watch play at Kensington Park to-morrow.

A Damascus message slates that swift arrest thwarted a plot to assassinate Hash-em Bee El Atatty, who has held the position of President since his election by the Legislature in 1936 under the newly-granted constitution of 1930. The term of a president of Syria is five yeai's.
