Mr D. Baird, who has been under treatment in an Auckland private hospital for the past month, returned to his home, No. 2 Main’s Avenue, Whangarei, last week-end. An unusual honour of husband and wife being made life members in the same week of the respective bodies to which they belong was conferred last week at Wellington upon Mr and Mrs James Livingston, of Mangahei. Mr Livingston w,as made a life member of the Farmers’ Union in recognition of his services over a long period of years, while a similar distinction was conferred upon Mrs Livingston at the annual conference of the W.D.F.U., also held in Wellington. In this organisation life membership can only be conferred after 10 years’ exceptional service.
