Japan’s Demands on Britain

(Received 2 p.m.) TOKIO, July 13,

A special meeting of the Japanese Cabinet approved the decision of the Japanese attitude in the talk with British representatives regarding Tientsin.

It is understood they adhere to the demands that Britain must abandon the support of Marshal Chiang Kaishek, and co-operate with Japan politically and economically by recognising the “new order.”

The Japanese army rejected the British protest against wire-barricad-ing of three factories at Shanghai on July 10. The barricades will not be removed until a satisfactory reply is received to Japan’s November Note of protest against, their conduct. The Japanese Domei News Agency reports that the municipality at Kulangsu, largely as the result of British opposition, refused the Japanese demand to appoint a Japanese police chief and policemen within the International Settlement.
