Ladies’ Gardening Club
The Ladies’ Gardening Club held its usual meeting on Monday afternoon at the Masonic Temple, Albert Street. The president, Mrs Webber, who was in the chair, gave a very hearty welcome to Mr H. R. Wright, wno nad travelled from Auckland to lecture on citrus culture and varieties. Members of the club and interested public filled the hall to capacity. The recent celebration of Mr and Mrs Edward Hare’s 65th anniversary of their wedding, has a distinct link with a Whangarei resident of many years’ standing. Mrs J. A. Taylor, of 13 Kensington Avenue, is a sister of Mr Edward Hare, and their father, the late Mr Joseph Hare, settled in Kaeo over 70 years ago, coming from County Armagh, Northern Ireland, in the sailing ship Lancashire Witch.
