Yorke - Thomas

At Christ Church Anglican Church, Whangarei, on June 28, the wedding was celebrated of Gladys Bessie, second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Thomas, Tikipunga, to Cecil Robert eldest son of Mr and Mrs Yorke, of Waiuku.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a charming frock of magnolia satin, cut on simple lines, with a beautiful lace veil, which was worn in halo effect. She carried a sheaf of proteas in delicate shades of cream and pale pink. The bride was attended by Miss Iris Yorke,' sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Joan Thomas, sister of the bride, who wore frocks of cyclamen georgette trimmed with, flowers to tone at the hem-line, each wearing small veils caught down with a wreath of flowers. The duties of best man were carried cut by Mr A. Mcßeady, the groomsman being Mr D. Yorke.

The service was conducted by the Rev. Mr Guinness. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Balmoral Tearooms, where the guests were received by Mrs Thomas, who wore a costume of nigger brown, with fox furs, and hat to tone, and carried a posy of autumn tints. Mrs Yorke wore a blue suit with hat to match, and carried a posy of rose pink and mauve. After the usual toasts were honoured, the young couple left by car for the south, the bride travelling in a suit of storm blue, with hat and accessories of London tan.

The gifts were numerous and useful. Mr and Mrs Yorke will make their future home in Waiuku.
