Clearing Sale Held At Maungatapere

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report holding a clearing sale on account of Mr Ned Sloane at Maungatapere on Friday. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and the cattle, which were of exceptionally good quality, came forward in good condition, but taking the quality into consideration, prices realised were not as good as anticipated. The sound springing cows .averaged slightly over £lO, while the more backward were not keenly sought. The heifers sold on account of Mr Irwin Wilson, of Maungatapere, were a good quality lot, but rather small, and showed lack of condition. A number were too close up to allow outside buyers to operate. The milking plant and sundries sold on account of Mr Sloane made quite satisfactory prices. On account of Mr Sloane, best springing cows and cows just calved, made from £ll/10/- to £l2/10/-; other good cows, £9/10/- to £lO/15/-; unsound cows, £3/10/- to £5/5/-; sows, £5 to £6/12/-; slips, £1; yearling Jersey heifers, £3/10/-. On account of Mr Wilson, best heifers sold at £6/10/to £7; others, £6/5/- to £6/12/6.
