JN ITS FIRST GAME OF THE YEAR. THE REORGANISED KENSINGTON TEAM SUFFERED A SEVERE LESSON AT THE HANDS OF CITY IN THE SENIOR SECTION OF THE NORTHLAND RUGBY LEAGUE COMPETITIONS ON SATURDAY.
Flayed at Jubilee Park, the game resulted 24 —0 in favour of City, last year's championship winners. Opening up the play at every opportunity, City gave a much improved display on their first two appearances, both backs and forwards combining in numerous beautiful passing movements which Kensington could not hope to stop. i . ) i Eighteen points behind at half-time, Kensington settled down to make it a battle in the second spell, but lack of training told the tale. Kensington’s efforts, however, showed that this side has the makings of a formidable team once the men are more fit and have built up combination. f In the other senior fixture at Portland, the home team played a great game to down Hikurangi, 22—0.
