Waipu Enthusiastic About Queen Carnival

Waipu win support the Whangarei Queen Carnival effort to raise Centennial funds.

Last night sixty residents, under the chairmanship of Mr G. McKay, heard Mr R. H. Allan, organiser, outline the scheme of having Princess elections in the country areas north and south of Whangarei. The idea -was received enthusiastically, and a committee of 35 was elected.

To this will be added the names of school teachers in the Waipu riding.

Mrs A. V. Tebbutts was elected secretary and Mr C. A. Peat, treasurer, to the committee.

Mr McKay thanked Mr Allan for attending.

Other Meetings,

In Whangarei last night a retailers’ meeting was held. Tonight at Whangarei a meeting is called of the Public Service lor the purpose of forming a Queen committee.

Onerahi meets on March 27 to form a Princess committee and Maungakaramea on March 30.
