Tangiteroria Lights Up its Hall

With the reticulation of the Tangitcrori'a districts practically completed.the hall committee held a most successful dance on Thursday evening last to commemorate the official switching on of electricity. There was a splendid attendance. Patrons arrived to find the hall in its usual dimly-lighted state, and dancing commenced. However, with the arrival of representatives of the Power Board, the president of the hall club, Mr R. G. Murdoch addressed the gathering and introduced Mr Overton, engineer to the board, who, after apologising for the absence of the chairman, Mr J. A. McLean, called upon Mrs C. C. Clarke to switch on. The hall was immediately transform-

od. Myriads of coloured lights bung from ’.ho ceiling, and, blending with (he decorations on the walls, made a vivid contrast with conditions a few minutes previously. Even the dancing took on a gayer note, and Cos Wright’s orchestra roomed to play even belter than ever, Mr Craven Clarke officiated as M.C., and extras played by Miss A. Tuhiwai wore much appreciated. A spot waltz was won by Mrs W. Mackey and partner, and the Monte Carlo by Miss V. Moheke and Mr T. Tito. Supper was served by’ the ladies’ committee.
