Fell-Holland
A wedding of much interest in Hokianga was solemnised at Broadwood on Wednesday, when Olwyn Millicent. younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis Holland, of Runa Runa, was married to Major Ellis, fourth son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Fell, of Kohukohu. The Rev. John H. Cable, vicar of Northern Hokianga, officiated.
St. Mark’s Church is delightfully situa.ed in a small patch of native bush, and with the brilliant sunny day, conditions were ideal for a happy start in married life. The church, which had been beautifully decorated, was taxed to capacity. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was dressed in a Victorian style gown of cream embossed satin. Her veil was of tulle, with a rose topnot. Miss Joy Hick was principal bridesmaid and was dressed in mauve taffeta, with mauve velvet trimming. The second maid was Miss Vi Rogers, who wore cyclamen pink taffeta with cyclamen velvet trimming. Little Valerio Fell, was hoover girl, and she looked charming in green taffeta.
The bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr Paul Fell, as best man, and his groomsman was the bride’s brother, Mr W. Holland.
The bride’s mother wore a navy floral and plain ensemble and carried a carnation bouquet. The bridegroom’s mother has been seriously ill, and was unable to attend. Her place was taken by Mrs L. Taylor, sister of the bridegroom, who was wearing brown floral marocain. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the A. and P. Hall where some 80 guests assembled to wish Mr and Mrs Major Fell all happiness. The young couple’s future home will be in Broadwood.
