Popular Kaikohe Sportsman Farewelled
Mr E. Robinson was officially ■farewelled by members of the Kaikohe Amateur Swimming Club, friends, and members of other sports organisations, in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kaikohe, on Thursday, night. The evening was spent in community singing, interspersed with individual items, Messrs. F. Eisenhut, E. Russ, P. Williams .and B. Stancich being among the performers, Mrs Edwards presided at the piano, in her usual efficient manner.
Mr H. E. Slyfield occupied tiwa chair. Several speakers paid tribute to Mr Robinson’s efforts on behalf of the swimming club, of which he had been secretary for the past three years, and the football, golf, and tennis clubs in Kaikohe, as well as the Old Boys’ Club. Mr Robinson suitably responded, while his father, Mr S, G. Robinson, also spoke during the evening. Mr Robinson left yesterday to take up a new post in Katikati, Waikato.
Kaikohe Comings and Goings.
Mr Urwln, whoi succeeds Mr Cooke as stationmaster, arrived in Kaikohe on Thursday. Mr and Mrs Cooke have left Kaikohe to take up their new residence in Auckland. Mr Ted Robinson has left to take up his new position at Katikati. Miss A. Pausina has returned to Kaikohe after her annual holiday.
