Housewives Bay Flour Cheaper Than Bakers
It is cheaper for housewives and country cookeries to purchase flour from their local grocer than for country bakers to buy it from the Wheat Committee.
This was contended at last night's annual meeting of the Whangarei Master Bakers' Association.
Members maintained that the present high cost of (lour to country bakers gave an unfair advantage to country home cookeries and housewives over country bakers.
Further discussion on this matter will take place next: Saturday, when a meeting will be field. Mr C. Cowan, president, and Mr S. Green, secretary of the Auckland Master Bakers' Association. will be present at this meeting.
Northland bakers hope that assistance will be forthcoming from the Auckland association in the efforts of country bakers to secure some redress from the unfair lift to them in the cost of flour.
- In the meantime, the Minister of Industries and Commerce and the Wheat Committee are being written to concerning the increased costs to country bakers. Mr H. E. Wilkinson was elected president of the Whangarei association, and Mr R. R. Roseman was reappointed secretary.
