Services make 171 with Eight Men
Big hits were a feature of the Ser-vices-Nomads’ battle, although Services relied on three men to compile the greatest portion of their 171. Unfortunately they were obliged to play two men short. As with the other senior game, wickets fell early .and Services had their first wicket down for five and their second at 10. Batten kept the score mounting, however, and when joined by Patterson the pair stayed the collapse and 71 runs were on the board before the partnership was broken. Weston hit up a smart innings of 31 and at the fourth wicket, Services had 156 on record.
Wickets fell cheaply from then on to the end, the running out of Batten after a ehanceless 68 being the signal for a general downfall.
Opening for Nomads. Massey and Howell found no trouble with the bowlers and 50 were up at the rate of two a minute. By the time stumps were drawn Nomads had scored 137 with the loss of only three wickets, Massey still being at the crease. Scores were. —
