Stewart skilfully tells the story of “New Zealand’s Greatest Gold-Digger,” the huge dredge built by the New Zealand Railways Department for a company working on the West Coast of the South Island. “Let’s Build New Zealand,” is the text of a comprehensive and informative article by O. N. Gillespie on the national need of an extensive development of the Dominion’s manufacturing industries. Charles E. Wheeler pleasantly takes his readers on a round of New Zealand lighthouses, a trip on the Government steamer “Matai.” The playing career of Neil Edwards (a member of the Head Office staff of the Railways Department), New Zealand’s tennis champion this year is well described by an expert. J. Watt has an interesting narrative on the names of some towns of New Zealand.- “Storied Stones” is the appropriate title of an excellent article by Catherine Keddell on St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth. Leo Fanning gives a light chat on Akaroa. There are about 60 illustrations including original sketches.
