Cartage Rates Increased
[Per Press Association. Copyright.! * CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.. An increase of 6d a ton on all cartage charges by city and suburban carriers will come into force on Wednesday.
The general rise in wages and other costs was cited as the principal reasons for the increase.
A price fixation scheme along the lines of that recently arranged by the No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr T. H. Langford, for carriers outside the exempted area was considered desirable by the majority of those present. It was considered desirable tp forward a suitable remit for consideration at the forthcoming conference of the transport industry in Wellington on February 20,
