Good Deep-Sea Sport Off Cape Brett

With the advent of the north to north-easterly wind, bringing decidedly . warmer temperatures, big game fish in the Bay of Islands are showing more inclination to bite. Eight game fish—six striped marlin and two mako sharks—have been officially weighed in at Otehef Bay in the last two days. The fish have been in splendid condition and all fought well. .... Lady Anglers Do Well. . The names of lady anglers are to the fore, five of the eight falling to members of the fair sex. ’ Mrs N. T. Morrow, of Sydney, added three more game fish —two striped marlin, 2171bs and 236ibs, and a 2861 b mako shark—to her tally. Mrs Mcrrow has now caught lOlllbs of game fish since January 25. Two American ladies, Mrs Milton D. Brown, of New York, and Mrs Edward T. Swift, of Chicago, each opened their account yesterday. The former, fishing from the launch Avalon, caught a 2161 b striped marlin, and the latter, in the Rosemary, also brought in a splendid Striped marlin weighing 2611b5. Other catches made during the last two days were: Mr N. T. Morrow, Sydney, striped marlin, 217 and 2801bs; Mr Edward T, Swift, Chicago, striped marlin, 2391b5; Mr W. Barron, Whangarei, mako, 1031bs. Regular's Start This Week. Mr H. White-Wickham, of London, who has been staying at Russell and Deep Water Cove since early December, will be commencing his, fishing tomorrow from the launch Ozone, and Mr Alma Baker, 0.8. E., is due in the Bay of Islands on February 4 for his annual visit. Members of the Lerner scientific expedition, at present in the Bay of Plenty, are due in the Bay of Islands on February 20.
