Waiotira Farewell Mr. And Mrs. F. Jones

A social and dance was held in the Waiotira Hall on Friday last to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Frank Jones and their daughter, who are leaving the district. There were 200 friends and relatives present, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Miss Finlayson and Miss Ormandy of Mangapai gave two Scottish dances, and an Irish jig. Master H. Cubitt rendered a mandolin-banjo solo, while Mr Hill, of Mangapai, rendered two songs. Mr L. A. Bicknell and Mr C. Berridge carried out the duties of M.C’s. Mr A. Stephen spoke on behalf of the settlers; Mr Wade on behalf of the church, for which Mr and Mrs Jones have been very keen workers; Mr E. Babe for the local branch of the Farmers’ Union, of which Mr Jones has been chairman for the past six years, and Mr T. O’Carroll spoke on behalf of the show committee. Mr N.
