Whangarei Returns To Mid-Summer Heat
Although the nights have remained unusually cold for the time of the year, Whangarei day temperatures have returned to summer peaks. Yesterday and today oppressive heat blanketed the town, the temperature at two o’clock this afternoon being 86 .degrees in the shade, while yesterday and Wednesday temperatures were almost equally high. Although the days have become almost uncomfortably hot once more, the recurrence of summer, after the / • changeable weather of the past week or more, is welcomed by summer sportsmen and holiday-makers. Nevertheless, with the continuance of the dry spell, gardens and pastures are becoming increasingly parched, and rain, when it does come, will be long overdue.
