GRASS FIRE IN GEORGE STREET
When the alarm was sounded yesterday morning the Hikurangi Volunteer Fire Brigade turned out to find the call, had been caused by a grass fire in George Street, adjacent to Mr C. Stockley’s residence.
At first it was thought that the blaze might endanger the house, but when the brigade arrived, the flames had subsided to such an extent that the fears were unfounded. A few minutes’ work sufficed to completely dispel any danger.
