French-Bred Horse To Visit New Zealand

The French-bred horse, Actor, imported to Victoria by Mr Sol. Green, is to be sent to New Zealand next month for three months’ holiday, following a light season at the Underbank Stud at Bacchus Marsh. While in the Dominion, he will be quartered at M. Grogan’s Grange Stud, Wanganui.

Mr Green's experiment in sending his other importation, Lo Zingaro, to the Dominion for a holiday last season proved so successful that he decided to adopt similar plans with Actor. Actor had only one race in Australia, and then had to bo retired front training. If ho had stood a preparation and attained his best French form, he would have been a worthy contender for the hig handicap honours in Melbourne and Sydney, hut Mr Green is very hopeful that Actor will offset this disappointment by proving an outstanding success at the stud.

Actor will be shipped to New Zealand on February 8.

WIN FOR WHANG ARE! OWNER. A popular win at Ashhurst was that recorded by Mr R. G. Hosking’s Appellant colt Judgment, who accounted for the opposition in the Novice Stakes. Judgement, who is trained by the exWhangarei mentor H. Scally, now firmly established at Hawera, is from Rulable, by Chief Ruler from Sunbar, from whom Mr Hosking bred Solarium and Aymon.

NOT LEAVING. A report recently published that H. E. Russell intended leaving New Zealand to settle in Sydney was, according to Russell,, the first he had heard of the proposed transfer. Ho had never considered leaving New Zealand, he said, but intended going to Sydney for his annual visit with a few horses during the winter.
