Respectful’s Record Over Middle Distances
Although Respectful’s racing has mostly been confined to distances up to a mile, he will not be making his first attempt over the distance when he contests the Takapuna Cup tomorrow. Two seasons ago he performed with distinction by winning the Matamata Hack Cup, miles, and finishing third to Tooley Street and Kelly in the Autumn Handicap at Whangarei. Respectful was a dual winner at Ellerslie at Christmas, and has galloped well since. He undergoes most of his preparation away from the track, and his present form indicates that this unorthodox method of training is to his liking. His present form is as good as could be wished, and the Raceful gelding should be assured of a strong following in to-morrow’s race for the Takapuna Cup.
