Lorry-Driver Sinks For Third Time
CS'neciaZ to “Northern \Advo6ate”l PUKEKOHE, This Day. Mr Frederick Keahfe, of Bucklahd, had a miraculous escape from drowning when he was thrown into a stream 15 feet below when his motor lorry collided with a petrol tank waggon between Buckland and ISiakau yesterday morning. He Was rescued after he had sunk for the third time. A farmer, Mr P. Morell, was in his shed When the accident occurred. He saw Mr If cane thrown into the water, and rushed to the scene. Divihg in, he located Mr Keane at the bottom of a pool 12 feet deep, and succeeded in bringing . him to the bank. After the collision, a fire broke out oh the petrol lorry through benzine escaping, but this was extinguished with a chemical extinguisher, removing the risk of the petrol in the wagon exploding. The driver of the wagon was not injured.
