Wellington Eleven For Plunket Shield

[Per I'ress Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr. A. W. Duncan, Wellington selector, has chosen the following players to come north for next week’s Plunket Shield contest: E. W. Tindill (Midland). J. R. Sheffield (University.). J. Ell (Wellington). J. A. Ongley (University). W. G. Rainbird (Wellington College Old Boys). j. R. Lamason (Wellington College Old Boys). D. S. Wilson (Kilbirnie). J. A. Ashenden (Kilbirnie). M. Browne (Karori). T. G. Pritchard (Manawatu). N. H. Gallichan (Manawatu). The 12th man will be T. A. Harpur (University).

Dempster not Included.

C. S. Dempster, the former Wellington representative, who is now captain of Leicestershire and has come out to Now Zealand in advance of his fellow members of Sir Julian Cahn’s team, will not, however, appear at Auckland, as had been expected. What would have been the position had he not damaged a finger while fielding in the slips for Institute Old Boys against Wellington College Old Boys last Saturday, is problematical. The “Sports Post” writer had this to say last week, the paragraph having been written before Dempster’s retirement:

1 “The position of Dempster in regard io inclusion in the Plunket Shield ride is rather peculiar. Whether he will be included or whether the attitude will be taken that he is purely a member of a touring eleven remains to be seen. As it is, he is eligible to play.”
