f Svecial to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND. This Day. London prices for New Zealand* butt.er continue to rise, and choicest sail'd is now selling at 123/- per cwt. This represents an advance of 6/- per cwt. since the close of last week, and is 1 higher than ,tho mid-week quotation. The market is firm and active.
The market price is now 10/6 above the level a year ago. the higher values at present ruling being largely due to reduced Australian output.
The current quotation is still below the guaranteed price, equivalent to 124/3, but is the nearest to the level since the price was announced in September.
The present price of 123/- is equal to approximately 14,74 d per lb. f.o.b. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d per lb. f.o.b, The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124'3 per cwt.
