THE VEVGETABLE GARDEN Sow cabbage, cauliflower, dwarf beans, lettuce, turnips, spinach, silver beet, carrots. Plant out celery, and keep Avell watered during dry weather. Spray tomatoes. Sow soiling crops for digging in. later. Lift onions as they mature, and dry well before storing. Go over the bulbs carefully before storing, and store only the sound ones. Use the hoe frequently to chip out the weeds as soon as they come through. Give your cauliflowers and cabbages a frequent sharp homing. If the fly is troublesome, dust with derris dust or tobacco dust. THE FLOWER GARDEN Frimulus gladioli may be planted for late flowering. Watch out for caterpillars and grasshoppers.! Spray with arsenate of lead. Sow seed of Iceland poppy, malacoides, ranunculus, antirrhinum, winter flowering sWeet peas and anemones. The ground should be kept firm about chrysanthemums. Give water when needed, -but be careful not to over-water. A mulch of old manure is more beneficial.
