Government Stocks Harden On ’Change
f Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. Business was more active on the Auckland Slock Exchange this morning, a fair list of sales being reported, mostly at steady values. In the banking sec.ion, however, Commercials and New Zealand's were a shade easier. The feature of the market was a further improvement in the demand for Government stocks. Buyers raised their offers for a number of issues, but there was only one seller on the market. Australian industrials were firm. Electrolytic Zincs, in their first sale ; of the year, showing an improvement I on yesterday’s quotations, although j the price was.the same as at the last I sale in December. : Broken Hill Proprietary had a : stronger market between £2 18/- and ' £2 19/-, but the rise in Australian Glass was checked, buyers dropping back to £5 10/- and sellers lowering their reserves to £5 18/-. New Zealand Insurances had a buyer at yesterday’s improved sale price of £2/11/3, and no sellers.
