Student Nurse For Dunedin Conference

Assistance is to be given by the Whangarei' Hospital Board to a Whangarei student nurse who has been delegated .by her fellow-students to attend the Registered Nurses’ Annual Conference at Dunedin at the end of this month. The matron of the District Hospital, Miss E. Swayne, who is to attend the concurrent Matrons’ Conference at Dunedin, reported to yesterday’s board meeting that the local members of the Student Nurses’ Association had selected their delegate, and asked that .the board assist in meeting the girl’s expenses. One member of the board stated that the students were taking up a collection among themselves for the purpose. Mr L. Reynolds favoured paying the whole of the nurse’s expenses. •Tf a thing is worth doing at all it is worth doing well,” said Mr H. L. Younger, who commented favourably on the keenness of the nurses. Mr F. Elliott also supported the cuggestion. The board agreed to contribute £2O to assist in defraying the student’s expenses.
