Christmas Cheer For Hospital
A large number of donations have been received by the Whangarei District Hospital during the past month, the majority being for the festive season. Among tfie gifts were the following.—Toys* Kamo Comforts Club; gifts .and toys, Maunu Comforts Club; sweets and Christmas cake, Mrs John Foster, Otaika Road; tobacco for Old Men’s Home, Mr Hales, Settlers’ Hotel; toys* balloons, etc., Miss Marshall, Cafler’s Avenue: lamb, Crippled Ladies’ Chair Fund; toys, Mr and Mrs S. Bignell; flowers,- Mrs A. Cameron, Maunu Road; flowers, Mrs W. Logan, Main’s Avenue; toys and books, Mr R. T. Tudehope, Bargain Stores Ltd.; flowers, Mr H. A, Clarke, Cook Street; oranges, John Burns Ltd.; gifts for Christmas tree, Mr and Mrs Leslie Reynolds; flowers, Mrs Younger, Kamo; flowers and greenery, Mr A. Clarke, Whareora; books, Mrs J. Lingard, Miss Jean McGegor, Parua Bay; Mr J. Henderson, Hikurangi; Messrs Drummond Bros., Cameron Street; fruit, Mrs John Evans, Norfolk Street; Col. Holgate, Kiripaka; Mrs S. Finch, Bank Street; Mrs Johnson, Kamo; Mrs Radcliffe, Mill Road.
From the Hukerenue. Women’s Social Club a present was received for every woman and child in hospital, including mothers and babies in the maternity annexe, per Mesdames J. Wilkinson and Radd, Hukerenui. Flowers were received in quantities from Mr Kean Clarke, Cameron Street. At yesterday’s meeting the hospital board expressed thanks io the various donors for their kindness and assistance. Patients’ Appreciation. Appreciation of the Christmas cheer provided for the patients during the festive season was expressed in a letter received' yesterday by the board. Signed by 12 inmates of the men’s surgical ward the letter returned thanks to the medical, nursing and domestic staffs and all others who rendered assistance. \ ; :
